Can i take an acoustic guitar onto an air tran airplane?

Hello everyone im going to CA soon and i want to bring my acoustic guitar onto an air tran air plane with me as a carry on. Am i allowed to do this? Will they let me bring it with me or will they force me to put it with the rest of the luggage? Thanks
